On July 18–19, the "Low-Carbon Technology and Green Development" symposium—the first bilateral event between the University of Huddersfield and ECUST—was held in the UK, co-organized by the Confucius Institute for Innovation and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange. Professor Alistair Sambell, Vice Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, delivered opening remarks. Academician Tu Shandong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor Chris Hardacre, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Manchester, presented keynote speeches. Eighteen scholars and students from ECUST’s Schools of Information, Biotechnology, Resources and Environment, Chemistry, and Business, alongside Huddersfield researchers, delivered invited reports across four themes: bioengineering, sustainable development, process optimization, and material design. Discussions focused on cutting-edge topics such as carbon capture, clean energy, green materials, and low-carbon transportation, offering innovative insights for green development and reinforcing collaborative commitments to sustainability.
